Non-EU Driving Licensing Validity in Germany

As driving license authorities are closed in Germany in order to minimize the spread of the Corona virus, kindly be informed that the German Federal Ministry of Transport adopted a new regulation on 9th April 2020*):

• The validity of all Non-EU driver’s licenses from foreigners will be extended to 12 months (former validity duration only six months) from date of initial registration.

• This regulation only effects driving within Germany and is in place latest until 1st of April 2021.

*) It is recommended by the authority to contact your responsible driver licensing authority “Fahrerlaubnisbehörde / Führerscheinstelle” for each specific case.
